episode 03 :: meet me in Okemah :: saved
Immemorial, prompted by the 100th anniversary of the lynching of Laura Nelson and her fourteen year old son, L.W. at the Old Schoolton Bridge in Oklahoma, we will stage sound installation-performances with live local choirs on a series of steel bridges. Folks will gather at these bridges, and together we create a memorial. A series of postcards will constitute the piece’s documentation.
This project has received funding from Franklin Furnace Artist Residency 2012 to mount the first staging of ‘saved’ in New York City.
INVISIBLE is a long-form video/sound project that asks the question: what if the transatlantic slave trade never happened?
